BT line rental is required with this package and costs from an equivalent of £10.75 a month when paid upfront, or £14.60 a month when paid monthly by direct debit.

BT (www.BT.com/infinityupgrade) has doubled its BT Infinity speed for its BT Infinity 2 package from 38Mbps to up to 76Mbps for no extra cost.

From April 12th, new or existing BT Infinity customers ordering BT Infinity 2 Broadband will automatically benefit from broadband speeds eight times faster than the UK average, together with the UK’s fastest upload speeds of up to 19Mbps.

Prices for BT Infinity 2 Broadband start from £20 a month for the first 3 months (£26 per month thereafter) and include an unlimited download usage allowance, a free BT Infinity Home Hub, plus unlimited evening and weekend phone calls to UK landlines.

BT Infinity 1 Broadband, which costs from £9 a month for up to 38Mbps download speeds, has also been revamped with upload speeds increasing fivefold to up to 9.5Mbps.

Commenting on the speed increase, BT Consumer’s Managing Director, John Petter, said: “Super-fast broadband is helping people enjoy the internet far more than ever before. However, many providers have forgotten about the importance of fast upload speeds. BT believes that fast upstream speeds are vital given how people now use the internet and so we are distancing ourselves from the competition by providing the UK’s fastest upload speed”.

BT Infinity is currently available to 7 million homes and businesses across the UK. This is set to rise to 10 million in 2012 and then to around two thirds of all UK premises by the end of 2014.

Readers can check whether their home or business can get BT Infinity Broadband by visiting the www.BT.com/infinity website and entering their phone number or postcode. Orders placed online for BT Infinity also qualify for a free £25 Sainsbury’s voucher.

BT (www.BT.com/freecalls) has launched a free calls for a year incentive, together with a £25 Sainsbury’s gift card, to new customers who buy BT Broadband for £13 a month.

Available to order online only at the www.BT.com website, the incentive also features a shorter 12 month contract period as opposed to the standard 18 month contract for BT Broadband and Call packages.

The free calls for a year apply to anytime calls to UK landlines and 0845/0870 numbers, while the broadband package delivers broadband speeds up to 16Mbps, together with a 10GB monthly usage allowance.

The BT Home Hub and Wi-Fi minutes are also included for free, as are a raft of other features like online storage, PC security and a 24 hour helpline.

BT Vision, BT’s digital TV service, can also be added to a customer’s online order for an additional £4 a month, while BT phone line rental, costing from £10.75 a month, is required.

New customers ordering the broadband and free calls for a year offer online can claim their £25 Sainsbury’s gift card by entering their details on the www.BT.com/claimvoucher website once their broadband has been installed. The Gift Card will be sent once their broadband has been activated.
